Session Description
The current political climate presents significant challenges for nonprofits, especially with executive orders leading to funding freezes and the elimination of DEI programs. These changes necessitate a strategic reassessment of how organizations communicate their mission, values, and impact. It is critical for land trusts and conservation organizations to develop strategies that build authentic relationships with a variety of stakeholders while adapting to shifting societal, political, and institutional expectations, as well as resource limitations. This session focuses on creating values-driven, inclusive communication plans that resonate with broader audiences while strengthening organizational identity and impact. Participants will learn how to communicate effectively across various platforms, broaden their outreach to new supporters, and maintain alignment with organizational values.
Through real-life examples, practical exercises, and a focus on audience-centered messaging, participants will refine their approach to storytelling and language in a way that respects the dignity and strengths of the communities they serve. we will explore how to refine your organization’s voice and build deeper connections— focusing on strengths-based framing, ethical storytelling, and messaging that reinforces agency and resilience. Attendees will leave with actionable strategies to craft adaptable communication plans, navigate messaging challenges, and build community trust.
